Hello! My name is Anne Wieder, owner and teacher at Anne Wieder Piano Studio, located in Brownsburg, IN on the Westside of Indianapolis. I would like to welcome you to my webpage and hope you find the information you are looking for.

Since 2002 I have been teaching piano to students of all ages - I have students from 5 years old into their 80's! It is a joy and privilege to be able to teach and watch these students grow in their skills as well as their love for piano. Many of my students began with me in Kindergarten and continued with me all the way through high school. Over the years, I have learned several different teaching techniques as I have worked well with all different levels of students, some of whom have special needs such as Autism, Asperger's, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and even brain injuries. It is so fulfilling and exciting to watch the students grow in their abilities and gain confidence in their skills which in turn, carries over into other areas of their lives. It makes my heart so happy when I hear parents tell me that their student will go play their piano when they are stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious and then walk away relaxed, happy, and in a much better frame of mind. That is what music does!

I teach traditional piano techniques and supplement with other repertoire that is fun and exciting as well as challenging for the students. Many times, I enlist the help of my students working together to choose repertoire that engages them and keeps them excited about playing piano. Sometimes that is a challenging classical piece and sometimes it is fun song such as "Inspector Gadget", "Star Wars", or another movie theme such as "Batman". Or maybe it is a video game theme song that they love listening to. We all enjoy playing piano games to reinforce theory concepts and use technology to assist in growing our skills. My studio performs recitals and as a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Indiana Arts Festival, we all participate in a yearly piano competition called the Hendricks County Festival. This competition affords the students the ability to receive written critiques in a positive way that will help them grow as a musician, be awarded certificates, ribbons and trophies based on their preparedness and achievements. Students who qualify may also go on to compete on the State level as well.

I am continually learning and growing as I remain an active learner taking classes, attending webinars, and being active in social media forums with other piano teachers.
